Hotels for Trees Boost Biodiversity with Forest Planting in Bilzen
Hotels for Trees and partners have planted over a hectare of forest in Bilzen to boost local biodiversity and promote sustainable tourism.
In Munsterbilzen’s Munsterbeek valley, Limburgs Landschap vzw, together with Trees for All and Hotels for Trees, planted around 3,500 native trees and shrubs. This forest expansion forms a natural corridor connecting Munsterbos and the woodlands near Zangerheide Castle, enhancing habitats for wildlife. Hotels for Trees involves about 250 hotels encouraging guests to skip daily room cleaning, donating €5 per skipped cleaning to fund tree planting campaigns. This innovative, eco-friendly initiative not only reduces hotel cleaning frequency but also contributes significantly to reforestation and biodiversity improvements.
By integrating sustainable hotel practices with large-scale reforestation, this project creates lasting benefits for both nature and communities in Bilzen.
